Hot spot effect is one of the most common fatal failures of photovoltaic modules. When local shadows, such as bird droppings, dust, and tree shading, cause part of the solar cells to be blocked, the unblocked solar cells will become "loads" due to excessive current, generating high temperatures, and even local temperatures can reach over 150°C, eventually burning the solar cells or even causing a fire.
Preventive measures:
Install an intelligent monitoring system to detect the temperature difference of components in real time. The temperature difference of the same component should be less than 20℃;
install an intelligent cleaning system to regularly clean foreign matter on the surface of components. The cleaning frequency can be dynamically adjusted in combination with meteorological data. In areas with large wind and sand, water should be washed at least 3 times a month, and detergent should be used to deal with oil stains to avoid obstruction;
choose components with bypass diodes to reduce the risk of hot spots;
install sonic bird repellers and set up protective nets around components; avoid shadows from buildings during the design phase, and conduct regular inspections to remove foreign matter during operation and maintenance.
